He is survived by: his sons, Danny "Moe" Hefner (Dottie) of Taylorsville and Derrick Hefner of Taylorsville; his grandchildren, Matthew Hefner, Megan Hefner (Justin Winstead) and Caleb Hefner (Kimberly); his great grandchildren, Crofton Fishel, Skylar Hefner, Colt Hefner, Hadley Hefner and Cody Horrocks; his siblings, Jewel Elder (Joe) of Taylorsville, Diane Hollar of Taylorsville, Patsy Wray of Lincolnton, Kathy Wike (Jacky) of Taylorsville, Hubert Hefner of Conover, Wayne Hefner (Betty Russell) of Hickory, Hal Hefner (Vickie) of Taylorsville and Jerry Hefner (Paulette) of Taylorsville; and his sister-in-law Betty Edge of Pineville.
