He is survived by: his sons, Scott Sumner (Tracie) of Elon, Marc Sumner (Brooke) of Wilmington and Michael Sumner (Lisabeth) of Wilson; his grandchildren, Morgan Cole (Preston), Lauren Sumner, Macon Sumner, Brody Sumner and Sara-Grayson Weaver (Garrett); his great grandchildren, Grayson Weaver and Reagan Cole; and his sister Pat James (Durwood). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
