We announce the death of Geneva Mae Hedrick Childress Varner of Thomasville, North Carolina, who passed away on May 31, 2026, at the age of 93. Geneva will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. She was predeceased by: her parents, Adam Franklin Hedrick and Mary Mae Watson Hedrick; her former husband Paul Childress; her grandson Eric Mason; her spouse Colvin Leonard Varner; her stepdaughter Linda Varner Bowers (Mike) of Thomasville; and her stepgranddaughter Rebecca.

She is survived by: her daughters, Paula Lynn Kellum (late Wayne Kellum) and Wendy Kaye Griffin (Sidney) of Sophia; her granddaughters-in-law, Amy of Thomasville and Nicole of Delaware; her grandson Brentley Kellum of Charlottesville, Virginia.; her great grandchildren, Cody Mason, Matthew Mason, Ethan Kellum, Emma Kellum, Wesley Kellum, Holden Kellum, Bella Kellum, Beckett Kellum and Tinley Kellum; her great great grandchild Piper Mason; her stepchildren, Gilda Varner Dedmon (Chuck) and Timothy Varner (Katrina) of Lansing; and her stepgrandchildren, Charlie Dedmon and Aaron Dedmon.
