He was predeceased by: his parents, Ernest Payne and Lassie King Robbins; and his siblings, Helen Odell, Carroll Payne and James Payne.
He is survived by: his wife Patricia Hancock Payne; his children, Shannon Payne (Stephanie) of Lexington, Tonya Bennett (Sonny) of Thomasville and Danny Payne (Cathy) of Lexington; his brother Harold Payne (Edith) of Thomasville; and his grandchildren, Jessica Tanner (Brandon), Avery Payne (Kinsey), Kendall Bare (Brandon) and Braxton Payne (Makenzie).
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 2nd 2025 from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM at the Hughes Grove Baptist Church (547 Hughes Grove Church Rd, Thomasville, NC 27360). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 2nd 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Hughes Grove Baptist Church.
