He was predeceased by: his parents, Alvin Cornelius McDowell and Dorothy Pearl Johnston McDowell; his daughter Shawna Elouise McDowell; and his brother Timothy McDowell. He is survived by: his children, Melissa McDowell of Yadkinville, Cheryl McDowell of Yadkinville and Aaron Willis (Ashley) of Wilmington; and his sisters, Dotty Cottingham (Marc) of Thomasville and Sheila Stewart of Thomasville.
Visitation was held on Sunday, September 14th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the J. C. Green and Sons Funeral Home (122 W Main St, Thomasville, NC 27360).
