She was predeceased by : her parents, Charles Alexander Slate and Annie Catherine Basinger Slate; her husband Bob Lee Mitchell; her son Charles Gordon "Pete" Mitchell; and her siblings, Charles Slate, Donald Slate, Shirley Cashion and Evelyn Harrington.

She is survived by : her sons, Bob Lee Mitchell, II (Pattie) of Trinity and Jon Randal "Randy" Mitchell (Peggy) of Lexington; her grandchildren, Joanna Hollifield (Phillip), Jonathan Mitchell (Neta) and Nikki McNeil; her great grandchildren, Ezra, Vance, Judah, Shiloh, Jordan, Evan, Shea and Weston; and her great great grandchild Isaiah. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
