He is survived by: his wife Jannie Lee Johnson Embler; his sons, Justin Embler, Jason Embler and David Embler, Jr. (Amy); his grandchild Casey Embler; and his siblings, Sam Embler, Johnny Embler, Gene Embler and Kathy Vanhoy (Terry). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
