He is survived by: his wife Birda Louise Royal; his children, Ray Vance Royal (Kimberly) of North Wilkesboro and Freda Stryker (Erick) of Virginia; his grandchildren, Jessica Hope Dorton, Melanie Gertz and Jeffrey Martin; and his great grandchildren, Hayden Alexander, Noah Triplett, Will Triplett, Ryan Martin, Madison Gertz and Ashley Gertz.
