He was predeceased by : his parents, Troy Mathis Lawson and Juanita Charles Lawson. He is survived by : his children, Jeannie Rutkowsky, Curtis Michael Lawson (Melanie) and Juanita Hale (Richard); his grandson Samuel Rutkowsky; and his siblings, Susie Shepherd, Lawrence Lawson and Billy Lawson. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
