He was predeceased by: his parents, Lessie Fox Mayes and William Elmer Mayes; his daughter Joy Silber; his son-in-law Chaz Siber; and his brother-in-law Charles Carter.
He is survived by: his wife Joyce Johnson Mayes; his children, Jenny Cline (Chris) and Jimmy Mayes Jill (Crystal); his grandchildren, Owen Silber, Abi Richardson, Rileigh Silber, Garrett Mayes, Kamden Hinson, Paisley Cline, Raelynn Mayes and Austin Hinson; his pet Jack; and his sister Lucille Mayes Carter.
