He was predeceased by: his parents, Paden Moore Thompson, Sr. and Kathleen Martin Thompson; his son Danny R. Thompson; his grandson Lonnie Gene Welborn, Jr.; his sister Norma Thompson Ritchie; and his brother-in-law Rick Stallings.
He is survived by: his children, Debra Welborn (Lonnie) and Donnie Chet Thompson; his grandson Michael Paul Welborn; his siblings, Elvis Lee Thompson and Donna Stallings; and his brother-in-law Ted Ritchie. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
