She was predeceased by: her parents, Harley Ballard and Lena Brackett Ballard; and her husband Eugene Duffy. She is survived by: her children, Steven Guffey of West Virginia, Randy Guffey of Efland, NC, Barry Guffey of Knightdale, NC, Linda Freeman of Charlotte, Patricia Wiggins of Clover, SC, Paula Quate of Wilmington and Judith Harden of Troy. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 13th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Troy First Baptist Church (403 W Currie Rd, Candor, NC 27229). A burial will be held on Saturday, December 13th 2025 at the Southside Cemetery (303 S Main St, Troy, NC 27371).

“Dear Family , it was my pleasure to get to know your wonderful Mother/ Grandmother when she and Gene were in the Sunday school class I taught along with Bobby Dunn . We would visit she and Gene at home from time to time . She would always ask us to pray with them before we left . She would fix treat bags for many people at the various rest homes nearby and ask me to help get them to the recipients . She was a kind and thoughtful person who cared so much for others . Harry & Debbie McRae”
