She is survived by: her husband Leon Burgess; her daughters, Judy Burgess Alexander of Hendersonville and Teresa Burgess DeBruhl (Linsey DeBruhl) of Asheville; her grandchildren, Jesse Burgess DeBruhl (Leah) of Asheville, Tristan Julie-Ann Brown of Hendersonville and Shelby DeBruhl Maag (Zachary) of Simpsonville; her great grandchildren, Landon Zachary Maag, Jackson Hayes Maag and Rory Ann DeBruhl; and her siblings, Clyde "Red" Tipton of Burnsville, Wade Tipton of Rutherfordton, Truman Tipton of Sunny View, Horace Tipton of Sunny View, NC, Merley "June" Tipton of Unicoi and Ilene Lane of Rutherfordton.

Visitation was held on Saturday, October 3rd 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Coopers Gap Baptist Church (730 Coopers Gap Rd, Mill Spring, NC 28756). A funeral service was held on Saturday, October 3rd 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Saturday, October 3rd 2026 at the same location.
