We announce the death of Donnie Jay Shumaker (Union Grove, North Carolina), who passed away on June 23, 2026, at the age of 71. Donnie will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. He was predeceased by: his parents, John Vance Shumaker and Gladys Dishmond Shumaker; his son-in-law Stony Speaks; his brother-in-law Randy Loudermelt; his mother-in-law Ruby Davis; and his cousin Noel Dishmond.
He is survived by: his wife Donna Shumaker; his children, Michelle Mooe, Eric Mooe, Shanna Speaks and Chris Mooe; his grandchildren, Dylan Speaks (Lindsay), Chanler Speaks, Austin, Jordan and Dustin Mooe; his great grandchildren, Elijah Speaks, Luke Speaks and Nathan Speaks; and his sisters-in-law, Tammy Norton (Barry) and Tammy Loudermelt.
