He is survived by: his wife Gaye Beam Abernathy; his daughter Lesley Chapman (Tommy) of Lincolnton; his grandson Carson Chapman; and his siblings, Vickie Abernathy of Lincolnton, Linda Little of Cherryville and Bobby Abernathy of Vale.
