He was predeceased by: his parents, Forrest Brackett and Myrtle Brackett; and his siblings, Doug Brackett, Annie Tallent, Inez Reep and Ruby Cockerell.

He is survived by: his wife Bonnie Sain Brackett; his daughters, Renee Brackett of Vale and Tonja McDonald (Tim) of Huntersville; and his granddaughter Meagan McDonald (Justin Goins) of Lincolnton.
