It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Mary Thomas Smith of Vale, North Carolina, who passed away on October 29, 2025, at the age of 86, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Spurgeon Leroy Thomas and Montie Nelson Thomas; her sons, Stephen Bryan Schronce, Christopher Gene Schronce and Samuel Todd Schronce; her foster son Fred Samuel Morrison; and her brothers, Ernest Thomas, Ralph Thomas and Jerry Thomas.
She is survived by: her husband Paul Richard Smith; her stepdaughters, Paula Brotherton (Dennis), Pamela Secrest and Katie Correll (Jeff); her brother Harvey Lee Thomas (Carol); her grandson Jason Schronce (Megan); her stepgrandchildren, Sarah Elise Herman, Jacob Harris (Danielle), Daniel Secrest (Ashley), Rebekah Scarpa (Nick) and Kyle Deal; her great grandchildren, Natalie and Addison Schronce; and her stepgreat-grandchildren, Abee Kate Harris, Kaleigh Beard, Landon Beard, Everleigh Harris, Adalind Mary, Grayson, Paisleigh, Malakai, Kaycen, Aubree and Damien.
