She was predeceased by : her parents, David Oscar and Annie Butler James; her husband Robert M. Strother; and her siblings, Rae James Martinette, Corrine James Detrick and Creighton Oscar James.

She is survived by : her children, Donna Scheetz Diehl (Ed) of Winterville, Shirley Scheetz Brown (Steve) of Shelby, NC and Dale Scheetz (Bernice) of Greenville; her grandsons, Max Diehl (Virginia), Daniel Diehl, Scott Brown and Michael Scheetz; and her great grandchildren, Carah Diehl, Madilyn Diehl, Olivia Diehl, Tegan Diehl, Caleb Brown, Lincoln Queen and Faith Scheetz. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.

A graveside service was held on Sunday, April 14th 2024 at 1:30 PM at the Pinewood Memorial Park (4150 E 10th St, Greenville, NC 27858).
