He is survived by: his wife Glenda Ross Ertel of Winterville; his children, Thorsten Ertel (Petra) of Bad Windsheim, Germany, Emely and Nicole Schuehlein (Patrick) of Wilhermsdorf Germany; his grandchildren, Theodor and Benedikt; his stepdaughter Janice Rausch (Ed) of Ponte Vedra, Florida; his stepgrandchildren, Courtney and Camryn; his stepchild Russell England, Jr. (Juvy) of Tucson, Arizona; his stepgrandchildren, Rusty, Emily, Elizabeth and Isabella; his stepdaughter Jennifer Latham (Matthew) of Suffolk, Virginia; his stepgrandchild MacKenzie; and his brother Detlev Ertel (Ilona) of Erlangen, Germany. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 7th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Pinewood Memorial Park (4150 E 10th St, Greenville, NC 27858).
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions in Juergen's name, be made to their church, Elm Grove OFWB Church in Ayden, North Carolina.
