He was predeceased by: his parents, Roy Hartness Gibson and Virginia Mauney Gibson Rippy; his stepfather George W. Rippy, Sr.; and his half-brothers, George W Rippy, Jr. and Keith A. Gibson.
He is survived by: his wife Phyllis Shores Gibson; his children, Jeff Gibson (Marilyn) of Greenville and Kim Gibson (Rusty Witcher) of Denver, CO; his granddaughters, Hannah Mauldin (Andrew) of Wilmington, Hope Evans (Nate) of Winterville and Holly Gibson of Greenville; his great grandchildren, Bo Mauldin and Ellie Shores Mauldin; his half-sisters, Debbie Robinson of Lowell, NC and Patti Moak of Lugoff, SC; and his stepbrother Charles Turner of Spartanburg, SC..
