He was predeceased by: his wife Opal Dixon Sumerlin; and his parents, Marion Sumerlin and Edna Sumerlin. He is survived by: his daughter Rebecca Sumerlin Potter of Greenville; his granddaughter Gracyn Potter of Greenville; and his siblings, Willie Sumerlin (Ann) of Simpson, Walter Sumerlin (Teresa) of Greenville, Charles Sumerlin of Greenville, Marilyn Woolard (Ray) of Greenville and Sally Reel of Lewiston, ID. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 15th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Wilkerson Funeral Home & Crematory - Greenville (2100 E 5th St, Greenville, NC 27858). A funeral service will be held on Sunday, November 16th 2025 at 3:30 PM at the same location.
