With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Shelton Debary Whitehurst of Vanceboro, North Carolina, who passed away on November 24, 2023 at the age of 86. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by : his parents, Claude Lee and Marjorie Nelson Whitehurst; and his pet Chester Buster. He is survived by : his wife Shelvia Jean Everett Whitehurst; his daughters, Claudia Lanier (Ambler) and Charlotte Lovette (Ken); his grandson Patrick Scott Goodwyn (Marti); his great grandchildren, Grady and Charlie; his grandsons, Daniel Everett Goodwyn (Paige) and Adam Shelton Lanier (Ashley); his great grandchild Chandler; his granddaughter Natalie Amber Lanier; his son-in-law Scott Goodwyn; his sister Becky Whitehurst Strickland; and his brother-in-law Clayton Everett. He is also survived by many nephews and nieces.
