It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Shirley Mae Wilson of Vanceboro, North Carolina, who passed away on December 6, 2025, at the age of 88, leaving to mourn family and friends. As Shirley departs from our midst, her spirit ascends to join the cosmic dance of stars, a shimmering constellation of memories that will forever grace the night sky of the hearts of those who loved Shirley. Though Shirley may no longer walk beside us, her legacy lives on — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of time and space.
She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Neta Case Wilson and Odell Wilson; her sisters, Carolyn Carlisle of Fort Barnwell, NC and Margaret Moore (Richard) of Newport, NC; her son David Wilson of Cookeville, TN; her nieces, Vickie Ferguson of Portsmouth, VA and Sherry Spradling (Mark) of Cookeville, TN; and her sister Debbie O'Neill (David) of Carrollton, VA. She was also cherished by six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren; and many special nieces and nephews and their spouses; and a host of special friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 11th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:45 PM at the Fort Barnwell Missionary Church (9335 NC-55, Dover, NC 28526). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 11th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Fort Barnwell Baptist Church (9335 NC-55, Dover, NC 28526).
