He was predeceased by: his parents, Philip DeSmet and Theresa DeSmet; and his siblings, Philip "Buddy" DeSmet and Lorraine Safko. He is survived by: his wife Lucia DeSmet; his children, Wayne DeSmet, Jr. (Joann), Brianna Owens (Connor), Andrew DeSmet and Jessica DeSmet; his grandchildren, Justin DeSmet and Deanna DeSmet; and his in-laws, James and Rosanne Mulhearn. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 23rd 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Wilkerson Funeral Home & Crematory - Greenville (2100 E 5th St, Greenville, NC 27858).
