He was predeceased by: his parents, James Jennings Turner and Margie Lee Thomas Turner; his brother Ward Turner; his brother-in-law Lynn Thomas; and his mother-in-law Polly Efird.

He is survived by: his wife Trudy Baucom Turner; his sons, Andy (Sally Turner) and Paul (Allyson Turner); his grandchildren, Grant Jordan of Monroe, Sydnie of Monroe, Palmer Turner of Monroe, Olivia Jordan of Monroe, Anniston Turner of Monroe, Eva Jordan of Monroe and Reese Turner of Stanfield; his sister Fran Thomas of Polkton; and his sisters-in-law, Mary Turner of Polkton and Sharon Cullingford of Polkton. He is also survived by his nephews and nieces.
