He is survived by: his parents, Craig Moffat and Debra Moffat of Wake Forest, NC.; his grandfather Jon Traurig; his cousins, Grace Moffat, Glen and Blake Moffat; his grandmother Anne Hatch; his brothers, John and Gene of Wake Forest, NC.; his grandparents, Gene, Diana Moffat of Mount Morris, NY, John, Briane Kearns of Greensboro, NC and Mary Anne Traurig of Greensboro, NC; his great-grandparent Anne Hatch of Fayetteville, NC.; and his aunts and uncles, Keith, Andrea Moffat, DJ, Tracey Butters of Dansville, NY, Reece and Ellana Kearns of Plano, TX.. He is also survived by cousins, friends, and extended family.

In Aven's honor, the family has created a foundation called Amazing Aven's Quest for Amoeba Awareness to promote awareness, early detection, and advance medical treatments for Primary Amoebic Meningoencephalitis (PAM).
