We announce the death of Betty Jean Gallagher (Wake Forest, North Carolina), who passed away on September 8, 2026, at the age of 87. Betty will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. She was predeceased by: her parents, Conrad Bailey and Beatrice Bailey; her former husband Leon Wade Ray; her husband Raymond Gallagher; and her sister Barbara Davis.
She is survived by: her children, Curtis Ray (Sue) of Franklinton, Tony Ray of Franklinton, Betty Walker Carter (Larry) of Youngsville, Sharon McCloud of Wake Forest, Tess Price (Robbie Underhill) of Cape Carteret and Ronald Gallaher (Cindy) of Wake Forest; and her stepchildren, Raymond Gallagher, Billy Joe Gallagher and Kathy Gallagher. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Monday, September 21st 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Bright Funeral Home (405 S Main St, Wake Forest, NC 27587). A funeral service will be held on Monday, September 21st 2026 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
