She was predeceased by: her parents, Henry Z. Wells, Sr. and Annie Mae Knowles Wells; and her siblings, Henry Z., Wells, Jr., James "Jay" Wells, Frank Wells, Betty Wells Brown, Louise Wells Murray and Annie Ruth Wells Evans.
She is survived by: her son Joseph Reaves Merritt II (Rhonda Ranae) of Wallace; her grandchildren, Katherine Evans Tucker (Chris) of Front Royal, Samantha Nicole Smith (Christian) of Willard, Kayla Ranae Sumner (Matthew) of Pink Hill and Bruce Christopher Penny (Bertha) of California; and her close friends, David Mike McCall of Pikeville and Robert "Chuck" Alred (NC) of Nakina. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
