He was predeceased by: his parents, George W. King and Edna J. King; his son Darren King; and his sisters, Joyce Short (Bob), Louise Jones (Red) and Eleanor Jarrell (Paul).
He is survived by: his daughter Tammy K. Kennedy (Frank) of Willard, NC; his grandson R. J. Henderson (Dana); his great grandchildren, Finley and Crue Henderson of Watha, NC.; and his daughter-in-law Nancy Prevatte King of Watha. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins.
