Mary Jo Johnson Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Mary Jo Johnson of Wallace, North Carolina, who passed away on May 6, 2026, at the age of 94, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Ruben O. Carter and Lillian Skelley Carter; her husband Willis Johnson; and her brothers, William Whitney Carter and Robert Oliver Carter.

She is survived by: her daughters, Belinda Coates (Jim) and Kim Weiss (Allen); her grandchildren, Todd Coates (LaDonna), Ryan Coates, Emily Weiss and Natalie Elliot (Cliff); her great grandchildren, Tiffany Wooten (Ethan), Corey Bostic (Rachel), Casey Schlapak, Beckham Coates and Jena Marie Coates; her great great grandchildren, Ruthie, Emma, Madalynn, Tucker and William; and her sister Pam Carter Admire.

A memorial service was held on Saturday, May 9th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Rockfish Presbyterian Church (6270 NC-41, Wallace, NC 28466).
