He was predeceased by: his parents, Kearn Hartman and Alma Steelman Hartman; and his siblings, Barbara Eldridge and Freddie Hartman. He is survived by: his wife Carolyn Wilson Hartman; his sons, Richard "Ricky" Hartman, Jr., Stephen Hartman (Barbara) of Lexington and Mitch Hartman (Dee) of Winston-Salem; his brother Harold Hartman (Betty) of King; his grandson Spencer Hartman; and his niece Cheryl Eldridge. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
