She was predeceased by: her parents, James Carey Dodson and Mae Ruth Atkins Dodson; and her husband Phil Mays. She is survived by: her sons, Brian Cone (Tonya) and Eric Cone (Tiffany); her stepchildren, Phil Mays, Jr. (Meri) and Julia Collins (Scott); her brother Mike Dodson; and her grandchildren, Morgan Purvis, Hannah Mitchell (John), Elijah Cone, Kaleigh Leonard, Nathan Cone (Faith), Conner Mays, Chloe Mays, Shyann Cone, Haylee Cone, Danielle Spencer and Jacob Spencer.

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 25th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Colonial Funeral Home Stokes Chapel (1020 Hope Beasley Rd, Sandy Ridge, NC 27046). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 26th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
