He was predeceased by: his parents, Colonel Wayne G. West and Mildred Barnard West; and his sister Ramona Nichols. He is survived by: his wife Mary Kathryn West of Warne; his son Gil West (Kim) of Naples; his grandsons, Christopher and Chandler West; and his sister Wanda Hoffman of Warne. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 24th 2026 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Ivie Funeral Home (67 NC-69, Hayesville, NC 28904). A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 24th 2026 at 2:30 PM at the Mount Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery (250 Hall Cove Rd, Warne, NC 28909).
