He was predeceased by : his grandparents, Carey, Mary Newsome Dillard and Dale Poythress. He is survived by : his parents, Richard Poythress and Cindy Dillard Poythress; his children, Vaiden S. Poythress and Lydian C. Poythress; his sister Carey L. Parker; his grandmother Sarah Royster Poythress; and his girlfriend Angela Whitney. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Visitation was held on Sunday, April 14th 2024 from 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM at the Blaylock Funeral Home - Warrenton (203 N Front St, Warrenton, NC 27589). A funeral service was held on Sunday, April 14th 2024 at 3:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Sunday, April 14th 2024 at the Fairview Cemetery.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers that memorials be directed to Inez Baptist Church or to the American Heart Association.
