He was predeceased by : his parents, Sol Benjamin and Myrtle Stallings Fleming; and his siblings, Johnny, Sol, Howard, Charles, Ralph, Ruth, Ada, Elna and Arnetta.

He is survived by : his wife Carol E. Fleming; his stepdaughter Judy Hobbs; his children, Darlene Gill (Clint) of Oxford and Tasker Fleming (Traci) of Albemarle; his siblings, Bill Fleming (Martha) of Morganton, Alma Walker, Eva Woodfin, Mildred Morrison, Ann Spence (Bill) and Irma Gard (Ferl); his grandchildren, Jeffrey Vaughan, Andrew Gill, Caleb Gill, Clay Thompson (Amanda), Matthew Fleming, Morgan Thompson and Madison Black (Ethan); and his great grandchildren, Stormi Thompson and Brody Black. He is also survived by his brothers, nephews, son.
