She was predeceased by: her parents, Benjamin Franklin Mercer and Betsy Lamm Mercer; her husband Clifton Alton Barnes; her son David Scott Barnes; her siblings, Ernest, Ben, Louis, George Mercer and Hazel Beck; and her grandson Bryan Lee Barnes.
She is survived by: her children, Steve Barnes (Cheryle) of Williamston and Debbie Wood (Randy) of Washington; and her grandchildren, Suzanne Ennis (Blake), Sara Tison (Tom), Seth Barnes (Kelly), Jonathan Barnes (Rhonda), Michael Barnes (Samantha) and Matthew Barnes. She is also survived by eight great grandchildren.
