He is survived by: his wife Emma Carter Windley; his children, Nita Canady (Ronald) of Washington, NC, Shirley Tooms of Chase City, VA and Herman Windley Jr. (Gino) of Raleigh, NC; his sister Minister Ann (Pastor Nathaniel Williams) of Chocowinity, NC; his sisters-in-law, Queen Stanley (Robert) of Belhaven, NC and Palestine Bremby of Washington, NC; and his nephew Billy Ebron. He is also survived by 23 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Friday, September 26th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Joseph B. Paul Jr. Funeral Service (4500 US-264, Washington, NC 27889). A funeral service was held on Saturday, September 27th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
