He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Malachi Potter and Tinnie Russia Wilkins; his daughter Linda Faye Potter; and his sisters, Mina Ross and Millie Beard.

He is survived by: his son Audy Harold Potter (Sally) of Washington; his grandchildren, Audy Potter, Jr., Haylee Potter, Allyson Potter, Lillian Luton, William Dixon, III and Kimberly Vernon (Jason); and his siblings, Herbert and Doris Sears.
