He was predeceased by: his parents, Talmon Reldon Tew and Daphne Williamson Tew; and his former wife Bonnie Brown Tew. He is survived by: his wife Diana Smith Tew; his children, Troy G. Tew (Kathy) and Leslie T. Schneering (Russell); his stepsons, Grant A. Smith and Mark M. Smith; his grandchildren, Taylor Tew (Jessica), Anna North (T. J.), Emily Schneering and Jonathan Schneering (Amanda); his stepgrandchildren, Sloane Smith and Winnie Smith; his great grandchildren, Rylie North and Adalyn Tew; and his brother Carlton Tew (Ethel). He is also survived by six nephews and one niece along with several cousins.
A graveside service was held on Saturday, May 16th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Edgecombe Memorial Park (2879 US-258, Tarboro, NC 27886).
