He was predeceased by: his parents, C. Staley Strickland and Lois Sledge Strickland; and his sister Faye Griffin. He is survived by: his wife Susan Bayol Strickland; his son William A. Strickland, Jr.; and his siblings, Jeff Strickland of Raleigh and Anne Smith of Louisburg.
