He is survived by: his wife Susan Sims Joyner; his daughters, Mandy Joyner, Aly Joyner and Kelsey Joyner; his granddaughter Marlee Joyner; his sisters, Melba Joyner and Robyn Gordon (Doug); and his sisters-in-law, Debbie Joyner and Judy Joyner.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to be made to Hermon Baptist Church or PBS North Carolina.
