With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Michael A Coppolla III of Waxhaw, North Carolina, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on May 6, 2025 at the age of 73. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

Though Michael may no longer walk beside us, his memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those Michael touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. He was predeceased by: his parents, Michael Coppola and Eleanor Coppola. He is survived by: his close friend Patti Maechler; and his brothers, Georg Coppola (Erin), Paul Coppola (Cindy) and David Coppola (Sharon).

Ever since we met at West Virginia University in 1971, we called each other by our last names. He was Coppola. I was Wild. He roomed with my then-boyfriend, Dan. Coppola always had a zest for life. He was a master at organizing whitewater rafting adventures, camping trips, game nights, and other fun events. I hope you can find peace after his untimely passing. We will all see him again.”
