It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Carol Jean Martin (Waynesville, North Carolina), born in Charlotte, North Carolina, who passed away on September 12, 2025, at the age of 79, leaving to mourn family and friends. Though her name may fade from the lips of time, the imprint Carol leaves upon the hearts of her loved ones remains eternally vivid — a testament to the depth of her spirit and the richness of her legacy.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Ray Smith and Norma Jean Smith; and her brother Ray Lowell Smith. She is survived by: her brother Clayton Jay Smith (Dawn); her daughter Ashley Martin Reece; and her granddaughter Leigh Erin Reece.
A celebration of life was held on Saturday, September 27th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home (296 N Main St, Waynesville, NC 28786).
