With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of John R O'Day in Waynesville, North Carolina, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on August 16, 2025 at the age of 73. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

In the sacred silence of farewell, John is released into the embrace of eternity, knowing that his light will continue to shine brightly in the tapestry of the lives of his loved ones. He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry O'Day and Betty O'Day. He is survived by: his wife Susan Thompson O'Day; his children, Molly O'Day McCarthy (Alex) of Greenville and Scott O'Day (Alana) of Oakland, California; his granddaughter Ember O'Day (Jessica Martin); and his sister Beverly Duvall. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, John would want you to honor his memory with acts of kindness, compassion for others, and time spent outdoors in nature.
