He is survived by: his wife Phyllis Nelson Small of Waynesville, NC; his children, Scott Samuel Small (Julie) of Wayne, PA and Laura Ann Small Greene of Oakwood, GA; his stepson Justin Andrews Zumbro (Michelle) of Wellington, FL; his grandchildren, Maggie Greene Whitmire (Kyle), Virginia Sheffield Small and Graham Montgomery Small (Maria); his great grandchildren, Lila and Athena Whitmire; his nieces, Julie Branyan (Timothy), Elizabeth Webb McComas (Michael), Mary Webb Bourke (Chris) and Gertrude Webb Allen (Brian); and his nephew Brian Samuel Ott (Laurie).
