He was predeceased by: his parents, Luther Orr Harkey and Mary Reid Morris Harkey; his brother Steve; and his former wife Trish Harkey. He is survived by: his wife Debbie Tucker Hargette Harkey; his mother-in-law Carol; his siblings-in-law, Ashley Melton, Teresa Tucker and David Tucker (Vada); his siblings, Vivian "Daisy" Johnson, Bob Harkey (Joyce), Mike Harkey, Judy Plyler (Eric), Sandra McKee (Jerry) and Patsi "Baby" Honeycutt (Tom); his stepsons, Chris Hargette (Ginny), Shane Hargette (Andrea) and Ben Hargette (Beth); and his stepgrandchildren, Kindley "Little Bit" Hargette of Kaylyn, Morgan Hargette, Tyler Hargette and Ian Hargette. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, July 27th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Calvary Church (2518 Lancaster Hwy, Monroe, NC 28112).
