She was predeceased by: her husband Earl Smith Jr.; her parents, Gilbert DeGroat and Lucille DeGroat; her sister Barbara DeGroat; and her grandsons, Stone and Noah Smith.

She is survived by: her children, Earl "Smitty" Smith, Jodi Keefer (Glen Keefer) and Bryan Smith (Dawn Smith); her grandchildren, Caleb Keefer, Kelsey Allen (Wyatt), Ethen Smith, Payton Smith and Elijah Smith; her great grandchild Piper Allen; and her siblings, Michael (Lisa DeGroat), Stephan (Jane DeGroat), Andre (Erica DeGroat) and Julie (Sam Litzler). She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Saturday, July 19th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Calvary Faith Center (4825 Rolesville Rd, Wendell, NC 27591). A memorial service was held on Saturday, July 19th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
