It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Laura Elizabeth Leaf Vaughn of Wendell, North Carolina, who passed away on July 31, 2025, at the age of 67, leaving to mourn family and friends. Though Laura may no longer walk beside us, her memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those Laura touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In her absence, her spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Oliver William Leaf and Verna Douglas Leaf. She is survived by: her husband Gary Goodwin; her sons, Evan Vaughn, Colin Vaughn (Casey Guditus) and Alec Vaughn; and her sisters, Linda Stutzman and Debbie Frasher.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 4th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the First Presbyterian Church (215 S 3rd St, Smithfield, NC 27577).
