She was predeceased by : her parents, Bernice Brantley and Mecie Brantley; her daughter Sharon Tracey Brantley Nagar (Steve); her siblings, Willard "Bud" Brantley (Ruth) and Katie Bunn; and her brother-in-law Drexel Gay.
She is survived by : her husband Newton Elgin Short; her siblings, Harold Brantley (Anne) and Judy Gay; her stepchildren, Pam Cross (Barry), Peggy Williams and Patrick Short (Denise); her grandchildren, Amanda Cross, Matthew Cross, Morgan Cross (Chelsea), Amber Perry (Stephen), Zane Short and Julian Short; and her great grandchildren, Aubrey and Tucker. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held on Thursday, February 22nd 2024 at 2:00 PM at the Strickland Funeral Home & Crematory of Wendell NC (211 W 3rd St, Wendell, NC 27591).
