Wilson Allen Driver Obituary
Wilson Allen Driver, Jr., affectionately known as Allen, age 76, passed away peacefully at home in West Jefferson on September 11, 2026.
Allen was a man known for his quick wit, generous heart, and ability to make people laugh. In high school, he was voted "Best Personality" and "Wittiest," honors that remained fitting throughout his life.
He put himself through college by mowing lawns and babysitting before building a successful career as an award-winning insurance broker. Later, he proudly became the self-appointed CFO of Ashe Pediatrics, working alongside his beloved wife, Sheila.
Allen was a dedicated member of his community through the Lions Club and American Heart Association, known for his quiet generosity and willingness to help others.
He loved all things Christmas, trips to the Biltmore Estate, Nashville, TN, mountain views, a pristine lawn, good milkshakes, donuts, and of course, Elvis Presley. His extensive Elvis memorabilia collection could rival Graceland itself. His love for "The King" even inspired the names of his beloved four-legged fur babies, Graceland "Gracie", Presley, and Memphis.
Above all, Allen cherished his family and lifelong friends. He had a special gift for turning friends into family and making those around him feel loved.
Allen is survived by his wife of 45 years, Sheila Jeffreys Driver, and their beloved dog Memphis.
He is also survived by his family of choice and longtime friends Anna and Tony Parrish, Sydney and Casey Gupton (Lacey and Callie), Grayson and Heather Parrish (Jack); cousins Sylvia Uhrin (Richard) and Ouida Foster and her daughter, Melanie; brothers Donnie Driver and Phil Driver (Donna); nieces and nephews Amy (Mac) Anderson, Suzy (Sean) Moser, Kaid (Anita) Driver & Kaitlyn, Stephen Driver, Lindsay Rodriguez, Kendall (Jon) Beck, Whitney (Kevin) Gill, Loganne (Colton) Young, and bonus niece Madison Davis; sister-in-law Gale Hoyle (Steve), and former sister-in-law Debbie Beasley. Pam Neaves a special close friend.
Allen was preceded in death by his parents, Wilson Allen Driver, Sr. and Louise Driver; grandparents Milton "Granddaddy" Driver and Jessie "Mammie" Driver, and Stephen "Papa Stephen" Lewis and Betty "Ma Betty" Lewis, and his precious fur babies Gracie and Presley.
Allen leaves behind a lifetime of laughter, stories, memories, and love. His quick humor, kind heart, and larger than life personality will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A service to honor and celebrate Allen's life will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2026 at 2:00pm at Rock Spring Baptist Church, 34 Rock Springs Church Road, Louisburg, NC 27549. In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to honor Allen's memory with a memorial donation to either the American Cancer Society or the Humane Society.
